"Music washes away from the soul, dust
of everyday life."
-Berthold Auerbach
So I am totally stoked to be talking about music! Music is so much a part of my life, I literally do not know how I would get by without it. A little history about myself that really shows my passion for music. When I was 3, I began my first dance class, age 7 was my first play, age 10 was my first vocal lesson; and by the age of 15 I had been in about 25 plays, 15 musicals, 3 operas. I went to high school right up the street at duPont Manual and was one of those crazy YPAS kids (for you guys from the 'Ville) and I was a theatre major/musical theatre minor. When I turned 18 I got my first tattoo, which is a star made out of music notes.
The quote that I listed at the very begining was a quote that my mother found and got engraved onto an iPod for me for Christmas one year. I always had some sort of music player on my person whether it was a cd player, MP3, iPod or now my phone. My best friend and I will literally sit around and just keep clicking different YouTube songs until we find one that we love and then find more. Some of these artists that we have found are Mike Stud, Alex & Sierra. Pentatonix, Lennon & Maisy and Lupe Fiasco just to name a FEW! We will always text eachother "GGIIIRRRLLL...( you know how girls do).... You have GOT to listen to this. You will LOVE it!!!!" Then the cycle repeats: we find the video, listen, then keep clicking on those annoying "You would also like..." videos.
I listen to music all the time! In the mornings when me and my daughter are getting ready for school I play the music from my phone onto my wireless speaker (She LOVES Meghan Trainor), on my way to school with my downloaded music on my phone, in the car taking her to and from school with either the radio or my phone library, she listens to it to fall asleep at night by CDs, me and my BFF listen to it outside on YouTube on our computers while we do homework (social play theory, yeah i know- totally sly name drop, I know). Whatever type of music I decide to push play on that day totally depends on the mood I am in. So like, if I'm walking to school I'm not trying to fall asleep so I usually play some upbeat, crazy country song that is sung by a girl who got totally done wrong by a guy. I have always said that if a person who didn't know me looked through my music library, they would think that 5 different people shared it. This is because I have Christian music, broadway showtunes, country, pop, rock, alternative. See. Told ya it was crazy!

So even like back in the day when this so said radio first came about to the mass public, I still listen to my music for all types of reasons. For entertainment, escapism, coping methods. I have playlists for each mood. I even had a certain playlist for when I went into the hospital in labor with my daughter!! I have playlists for my best friend for us to listen together when she is mad at her boyfriend. We have playlists for when we are both single for our girl power songs to remind us that "Hell yeah, we don't need any stupid boy!!! We are free now to have fun!"
